LotShift Privacy Notice
Last updated: February 22, 2026
The short version: LotShift processes customer data entirely on your local machine. No customer data is transmitted to external servers, sold to third parties, or used for advertising. You control your data, and you can delete it at any time.
1. What LotShift Is
LotShift is a locally-installed sales intelligence tool that helps automotive sales professionals analyze CRM data, generate customer communications, and manage deal flow. It runs on your computer and connects to your dealership's CRM through your existing authorized access.
2. What Data LotShift Processes
When you use LotShift, it processes the following types of information from your CRM:
- Customer contact information — names, phone numbers, and email addresses as they appear in your CRM
- Vehicle interest data — vehicles of interest, trade-in information, and purchase history
- Communication history — records of emails, texts, and phone calls logged in your CRM
- Deal status data — lead source, pipeline stage, and activity timestamps
LotShift does not collect biometric data, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, or driver's license numbers.
3. Where Data Is Stored
All data processed by LotShift is stored locally on the machine where LotShift is installed. Specifically:
- Customer index data is stored in local JSON files within the LotShift application directory
- Generated messages and drafts are stored locally until you copy them to your CRM
- Configuration and preferences are stored in a local SQLite database
- No data is uploaded to cloud servers, external databases, or third-party services
4. AI-Assisted Message Generation
LotShift uses AI models to help generate draft customer communications. When this feature is used:
- Customer context (name, vehicle interest, communication history summary) is sent to the AI provider's API to generate a draft
- The AI provider processes the request and returns a generated message
- AI providers are contractually prohibited from using API inputs for model training (per their published data usage policies)
- No customer data is retained by the AI provider after the response is generated
You always review and approve any AI-generated message before it is sent to a customer. LotShift never sends communications to customers automatically.
5. Browser Extension
If you use the optional LotShift browser extension:
- The extension reads information displayed on your CRM screen to provide contextual assistance
- Data read by the extension is sent only to your local LotShift instance — never to external servers
- The extension communicates with LotShift using a locally-generated API key
- The extension does not access browsing history, other tabs, or any data outside of CRM pages
6. What LotShift Does NOT Do
- Does not sell, rent, or share customer data with any third party
- Does not display advertising or use data for ad targeting
- Does not track your usage with analytics or telemetry services
- Does not access your CRM through unauthorized APIs or automated bulk scraping
- Does not store passwords or CRM login credentials
7. Data Deletion
You can delete all customer data at any time through LotShift's Settings page. Deleting the LotShift application directory removes all stored data completely. There are no cloud backups or external copies to worry about.
8. Who Has Access
Only users with access to the machine where LotShift is installed can access its data. If multi-user access is enabled, each user sees only the customers assigned to them in the CRM, consistent with existing dealership data access policies.
9. Dealership Data Policies
LotShift operates within your existing CRM authorization. The customer data you access through LotShift is the same data you are already authorized to view and use in your CRM. LotShift does not grant access to any data beyond what your CRM credentials already permit.
10. Changes to This Notice
If LotShift's data handling practices change — particularly if data storage moves from local-only to hosted — this privacy notice will be updated and users will be notified before any changes take effect.
11. Contact
For questions about this privacy notice or LotShift's data practices, contact the LotShift administrator at your dealership.
